I've got a bit of a puzzler. I've been running Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) for AMD64 on my laptop for a while. Once I got the kismet.conf file right, kismet worked fine. Just recently I reinstalled, switching to Xubuntu 7.10 (also AMD64) in hopes of getting better performance. I did get a boost in performance, but now, while kismet appears to work, it never detects any APs at all, not even the one on my own network. The .conf files are identical, and I would have thought that everything effecting kismet would have been the same between Kubuntu and Xubuntu. Has anyone got any notion as to where to start looking for the culprit? I didn't find anything very closely related in the Ubuntu forums, but we all know how difficult it is to do an exhaustive search for a problem that you can't put a definite name to.
